Chicago Train
by Sergey Cherep
There are cities that have a feeling all their own — and Chicago in winter is one of them. Sergey Cherep captures it with stunning force in this large square 48" × 48" oil on canvas, completed in 2024. The iconic CTA elevated train surges forward out of a snow-flecked night, red signal lights blazing, its silver cars stretching back along the elevated track toward a magnificent skyline rendered in Cherep's signature bold, graphic style. The Willis Tower rises center canvas against a churning teal sky alive with thick impasto clouds, while white snowflakes scatter across the entire composition like a city holding its breath mid-storm. Red accents pulse through the buildings, the tracks, and the train itself — keeping the whole dramatic scene electric with energy beneath its dark, wintry palette. It is cinematic, deeply atmospheric, and unmistakably Chicago. A landmark piece from one of Post-Impressionism's most compelling contemporary voices. Signed by the artist.
